Experienced Investment Advisor Overview



Licensed Trader for Wealth Management/Trading group - Vancouver office

Full time hours 5:30am – 1:00pm

The successful candidate will be an experienced, licensed trader who is able to provide accurate, efficient and specialized trading support on a diverse range of assignments to help clients reach their financial goals. This is not a proprietary trading position.

    Main responsibilities include:
  • Order execution and daily management of equities, options, and commodity futures within client portfolios
  • Ensure accurate and timely post-execution allocation, confirmation, and reporting of all portfolio security trades
  • Verify and correct any errors or omissions in daily transaction summaries
  • Work with the back office to identify, investigate and resolve portfolio discrepancies and market settlement problems
  • Maintain current knowledge of, and comply with, all compliance regulations, securities laws, risk & confidentiality requirements
  • Ensure satisfactory resolution of client enquiries and take ownership of coordinating responses with other departments as necessary
  • Provide market quotes, and other order management requirements
  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course and Conduct and Practices Handbook
  • Completion of the Trader Training Course
  • Completion of the Derivatives Fundamentals, Options Licensing Course and Futures Licensing Course preferred
  • Undergraduate Degree or Community College Diploma preferred

We are seeking a professional looking to join a high performing Institutional Sales/Trading team in its Toronto location.

We are looking for candidates with previous institutional sales experience. The individual will have expertise in the marketing of micro to mid-cap equity investment opportunities in the technology, oil & gas, mining, consumer products and special situations sectors. A track record of building profitable relationships with buy side clients is preferred along with a history of new account origination. A working knowledge of the basic institutional trading platforms would be of benefit.

  • Minimum 5 years of sell side institutional equity sales and/or sales trading in capital markets

Receptionist - Vancouver, BC

We are seeking a full-time Receptionist to greet clients by telephone and in person, and to assist the Manager, Office Services with various administrative duties according to Firm policies and procedures.

    Main Responsibilities:
  • Direct all incoming calls in a professional and courteous manner and ascertain the routing of calls when a caller is not certain of their contact.
  • To greet clients in person in the same manner.
  • Open the office and distribute morning newspapers.
  • Distribute incoming and outgoing faxes. Scanning documents.
  • Deal with photocopier jams, fill paper trays daily. Obtaining copier counts from branch offices.
  • Ensure kitchens and boardrooms are kept tidy throughout the day. Order all necessary kitchen supplies.
  • Assist the Manager Office Services with various departmental work including tracking invoices.
  • Type envelopes, labels, letters, etc. as required.
  • Prepare courier labels and reconcile courier invoices.
  • Provide clients with quotes when required after market hours only (training provided).
  • Order business cards and personalized stationary.
  • Order catering for company lunches and meetings.
  • Maintain records & usage of security pass cards and monthly parking.
  • Assist with organizing in-office charitable campaigns, in-office monthly birthday lunches and staff lunches.
  • Keeping in-house forms in stock and ordering forms from inventory. Create form packages.
  • Maintain company data in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Working with building maintenance and various suppliers on a regular basis and maintaining a professional relationship with suppliers.
  • Work Hours: Monday to Friday
  • A high school diploma and some solid reception / office experience.

Compliance Supervisor or Supervisor Trainee (Exchange Traded Derivatives)

  • Protect clients and the firm by ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policy.
  • Facilitate smooth operation of a niche futures & futures options trading group by interacting with front office as well as back office staff.
  • Print / analyze reports and guide Investment Advisors accordingly.
    Job Duties:
  • Monitor and review all trading activities to measure compliance with IIROC (Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada) rules and internal policies.
  • Review and complete commodities compliance reports as required by IIROC Rule 2500: Minimum Standards for Retail Customer Account Supervision.
  • Undertake enforcement of internal policies and procedures and sanction activity in client accounts when necessary.
  • Monitor and enforce open positions in relation to futures contract delivery period: first notice day and last trading day.
  • Supervise and process Commodity Deliveries: cash, storage charges, fees, call for shipment, etc.
  • Key in daily Journal Entries using GMI / Execlear &or DataPhile back office programs.
  • Navigate back office software for managing trades, commissions and client information.
  • Create monthly reports for distribution to Branch Managers for review and supervision.
  • Process and track 3rd party monthly invoices.
  • Meet high standards for customer-service while facing time sensitive operational challenges.
  • 6:30am til 2:30pm core office hours in Vancouver.
    Skills and Qualifications:
  • Must have current IIROC Futures / Futures Options Supervisory registration – or - the ability to work towards completing the Derivatives Fundamentals Course, Futures Licensing Course & Canadian Commodities Supervisors Course.
  • At least 2 years post-secondary business related education, ability to work independently while being a strong team player, strong analytical skills, strong administrative writing skills, strong organization skills, ability to work under pressure.
  • GMI / Execlear / Dataphile (back office software) experience is not essential – a keen interest in the Exchange Traded Derivatives ‘commodities industry’ is preferred.
